Source of funds and the verification questionnaire

Two different things get confused here. Verification ends with a short questionnaire that every recipient completes. Source-of-funds documents are separate — they are requested only when something specific calls for them, not as part of signing up.

1. The questionnaire at the end of verification

The last step asks the recipient about the payments they expect to receive, including their expected monthly transaction volume in EUR. It is a short form, not a document upload.

Give a realistic figure rather than a placeholder. This is a description of what the recipient expects, not a cap being set on the account — there is no monthly limit on what a recipient can receive. See volume limits.

Exactly which questions appear varies with the recipient's country, so the form one recipient sees may be shorter or longer than another's. Answer what is actually shown; nothing here needs preparing in advance.

If a question asks what the recipient does for work, describe the work they actually do. Selling content on a platform is an occupation in its own right — entering it plainly moves faster than leaving the field empty or answering "none". For a business recipient, describe the company's real activity.

2. When source-of-funds documents are asked for

There is no source-of-funds upload during signup. We ask for these documents separately, case by case, when a particular payment or account calls for it. Most recipients are never asked.

If a request does come, it will say what is needed. In general:

  • Documents have to be in the recipient's own name — the point of the request is to show the money arriving is theirs and not a third party's.
  • Documents in anyone else's name are not accepted, including yours as the person managing the recipient.
  • The documents do not have to show earnings from any particular platform. An account in the recipient's own name is what matters.

If you need to onboard your own company rather than a person, that is a different route — it goes through KYB when you add the recipient.

Frequently asked questions

Does the recipient have to upload bank statements to get verified?

No. There is no source-of-funds upload in the verification flow. Those documents are requested separately and only when needed, and most recipients are never asked for them.

How many bank statements are needed if we are asked?

The request will say. Do not assume several months of statements are required — that is a common misunderstanding, and it comes from the [proof of address](/help/verification/proof-of-address) step, where "last three months" describes how recent one document must be, not how many to send.

What figure should the recipient give for expected monthly volume?

A realistic estimate of what they expect to receive. It is not a limit being applied to the account, and it does not cap what they can receive later.

What do I enter for occupation if the recipient has no other job?

Selling content on a platform is the occupation. Enter it as their work rather than leaving the field blank or answering that they have none.

Can I provide my own documents for a recipient?

No. Anything requested has to carry the recipient's own name. The request exists to show the incoming money is theirs, so a document in your name does not satisfy it.
