A closed virtual bank account means one bank account has been retired and replaced. The recipient is not closed, and USDC already sent to their USDC wallet is unaffected. What changed is the account details, and those have to be updated wherever they are saved.
What closed applies to
Closed applies to one virtual bank account, not to the recipient.
A recipient's virtual bank accounts are held one per currency: an EUR IBAN for SEPA payments and a USD SWIFT account for wire payments. When one of those is retired, it stops accepting payments and a new one is issued in its place. The recipient stays in My Recipients, keeps its history, and keeps the same USDC wallet.
The app marks a retired account with a notice on the recipient saying it is closed and should not be used, and shows its last four digits so you can cross-check anything already in flight.
Warning: Stop sharing the retired details straight away. A payment sent to them is not credited and is not swapped.
Find the current details
The app is the authoritative source for a recipient's account details:
- Go to My Recipients and open the recipient.
- Open Payment methods and select the EUR or USD tab.
- Click Copy all instructions.
The new details appear on that tab once the replacement account is issued.
Update the details everywhere they are saved
Replace the retired details on every platform that pays the recipient, and anywhere else you keep them:
- Paste the copied instructions into the platform's payout settings, replacing the old account.
- Save, then reopen the settings and check the platform shows the new account.
- Repeat for every platform and every recipient with a retired account.
A platform keeps paying the old account until its saved settings are changed, so this is the step that stops the problem repeating. If a payment already went to the retired details, see Payment sent to old IBAN.
If there are no current details to copy
An account can also be suspended, which is a different state from a retired one. A suspended account's details stop showing on that currency's tab, and there is nothing to copy in their place.
If the EUR or USD tab shows no details and no replacement has appeared, contact Fiatswaps support rather than guessing at the cause. Send:
- The recipient's name.
- The currency of the account.
- The last four digits shown on the closed-account notice, if there is one.
- Any payment sent or expected in the meantime, with its amount and date.
We check the account from our side and tell you what we find.
