A USDC-to-EUR or USDC-to-USD swap sends money to a bank account you added, in exchange for USDC sent on Base from a recipient's USDC wallet. It is a swap in the opposite direction and is priced the same way.
If the recipient has no approved bank account yet, add one first. The USDC address only appears once an account is approved.
1. Choose the swap on the Swap page
Crypto to fiat is set up on the recipient whose USDC is being sent:
- Click Swap in the sidebar and choose the recipient next to Recipient.
- Under You send, choose USDC.
- Under You receive, choose EUR or USD.
- Click Get swap details.
To get there from anywhere in the dashboard, press ⌘K (Ctrl K on Windows) and choose Swap, then follow the steps above.
Note: If USDC is not in the You send list, crypto to fiat is not switched on for your workspace yet. Contact Fiatswaps support and we will enable it.
2. Pick the bank account
Each approved bank account has its own USDC address, so the account you pick decides where the money goes. The top of the Swap details window names the account the swap pays, with its holder and the last four digits of the account:
- Click that account to list the recipient's accounts in the currency chosen under You receive.
- Choose the account that should receive the money. The address under Send USDC to changes with it.
3. Send the USDC on Base
Sending USDC to the address starts the swap:
- Click Copy address, or scan the QR code next to it.
- Send USDC on the Base network from the recipient's USDC wallet.
Warning: Send only USDC on Base to this address. A different token, or USDC on a different network, is lost. Fiatswaps cannot recover it.
4. Receiving the EUR or USD
The money is sent to the bank once the USDC arrives. What lands is the USDC received less the Fiatswaps fee, at the rate used for the swap, with no second charge after it.
EUR goes over SEPA. USD goes by wire, to a US bank or over SWIFT to a bank outside the US. When the money appears depends on the receiving bank, which sits outside Fiatswaps.
5. What crypto to fiat will not do
Four limits are worth knowing before you start:
- EUR and USD only. The bank account receives euros or dollars, set when the account is added.
- USDC on Base only. No other token and no other network is accepted at the address.
- Approved accounts only. An account that is Under review has no address yet.
- One account per address. USDC sent to an account's address goes to that account and no other.
